International percussionist, Jose Márquez has played with world renowned artists—among them Dizzy Gillespie, Mongo Santamaria, Tito Puenté and other jazz greats. While studying at the Art Instructor School of Music in Havana, Cuba, Jose trained with Ignacio Berroa and other notable musicians and developed technique with bongos, congas, drums, bata, timbales, djiembé, guiro and chekere.
Jose arrived in New York City in 1980 and began a long career of playing and teaching throughout the eastern United States. Today he is living in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida performing, teaching drumming and percussion, and offering rhythm for relaxation programs.
